Advocacy for the Canyon

Here at Claremont Canyon Conservancy we are always working to advocate for our community, especially in regards to fire prevention and mitigation. We wanted to share with you some of our most recent advocacy endeavors. Our president, Jon Kaufman sent a letter to Matt Nauman, communications executive at PG&E, designating strategic areas for undergrounding power lines, and also urging more funding.

Our board members, along with those of North Hills Community Association, such as Elizabeth Stage have been working to testify at city Council meetings and monitor the upcoming budget to make sure the Fire Department’s vegetation management budget will be maintained along with keeping the Amito Fire Station open, and getting the city to fund additional tree services staff, which will help with the removal of dead or dying trees and problematic trees that may be vulnerable in a fire.

If you are interested in working with us on these important issues please consider joining our board!
