Safer Canyon Initiative

August Happenings 2026

Remembering Jerry Kent - May you rest in peace. Jerry Kent was a treasure. His passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the Claremont Canyon Conservancy. He was not only a font of knowledge about the canyon, its history and the wildfire issue, but he was able to share his knowledge with anyone and everyone who wanted to know. We were so fortunate to have him with us for many great years. He will live on in our memories and in our hearts for years to come. Read more about Jerry Kent here.

July Happenings 2026

This fall, with the generous $100,000 Safer Canyon donations, the Conservancy seeks to remove eucalyptus trees from Garber Park’s Alvarado entrance and near Fireplace Plaza. The Conservancy is working closely with the City of Oakland to win approval for this project to remove hazardous vegetation. Take a look at our 2026 Spring Print Newsletter on our website to learn more about the project.

January Happenings 2026

Thank you for a wonderful year! As we close out 2025 and begin 2026, we are pleased to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has been involved with our organization. To our volunteers, students, scouts, and community residents; to our financial supporters both large or small; to area homeowners who are making their properties safer from wildfire; and to everyone who drives by our canyon and simply admires the beauty of our open space. Thank you for what you do to help keep Claremont Canyon a wonderful wildland preserve. We have had a busy and successful 2025 on all fronts, and with your help, we look forward to making 2026 equally rewarding.
